About the Artist
Throughout my
thirty-year professional acting career, I've continued
to design jewelry. While working at regional theaters
like the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare
Festival, Seattle Repertory, A Contemporary Theater in
Seattle, and even the little role of Dean Wormer's
Secretary in the movie "Animal House," I've made time to
study and refine my craft, working with professional
artisans through Pratt Fine Arts Studio, numerous
workshops and master classes.
A few years ago, while watching a musician friend
change-out the strings on his guitar, I suddenly saw the
potential of his cast-offs. Since then, I've been
happily playing with these beautiful used guitar
strings, transforming them, and being inspired by them.
It's a wonderful challenge working with this special
material. These strings, once used for the purpose of
making beautiful music, now "perform" in my jewelry
designs.
Emily Dickinson wrote -
"Hope is the
thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops at all."
My hope is that the
resonance in these guitar strings…never stops at all.
Enjoy!
